International Women’s Day - The Women We’re Celebrating In 2023
March is a month of excitement, anticipation and gratitude. With it comes the change in seasons, the warmer weather and, probably most importantly, a chance to celebrate the women who inspire us: International Women’s Day.
International Women’s Day encourages business leaders globally (including us) to recognise the importance of gender equality within the workplace.
Here at Caddyboo, we see ourselves as a company which is diverse, growing and dependent on the passion and talent of many incredible women. So, today’s blog post is dedicated to International Women’s Day and celebrating females everywhere.
When is International Women’s Day?
The date for International Women’s Day, or IWD, is Wednesday 8th March 2023.
It is celebrated on this day every year all around the globe. It was created on this day as a focal point for women’s rights while also bringing attention to issues around gender equality, reproductive rights and violence against women.
What is the theme of IWD 2023?
The theme of International Women’s Day this year has been selected as “Innovation for a gender-equal future”. This theme was chosen because women continue to fight for equality in male dominated sectors of science, technology, maths and engineering. It also focuses on pushing gender equality in digital society.
What Does International Women’s Day Mean To Us?
Caddyboo, our luxury golf accessory brand, is made up of a team of amazing males and females. Our brand would not be what it is today without the incredible women - from project management to product vision and everything in between.
The females in our team and industry make such a huge impact on our brand ethos, our goals and our inspirations for building a better, more sustainable brand in the golf world.
For us, International Women’s Day is all about celebrating the females in our industry. Here are just a few we admire…
Annika Sörenstam
This Swedish professional golfer is regarded as the best female golfer in history. With over 90 professional international tournaments under her belt, she has had the most wins in history.
Annika sparks inspiration and motivation in our team - her ethos reminds us never to give up and to keep going through struggles for the ultimate title at the end!
Lydia Ko
This incredible New Zealand professional was officially the youngest of either gender to be ranked as number 1 back in 2015 - she was the ripe old age of 17! Not only is Lydia an incredible golfer she is also an underdog, often missed from lists of top females - that’s a mistake in our opinion.
Lydia and her attitude reminds us that there is no timeline on success, you can earn and win when you put the time and effort in!
Ann Daniels
This world record holder and award winning adventurer is one of Britain’s leading polar explorers. She leads expeditions in some of the world’s most extreme conditions and puts her successes down to her positive mental attitude.
Ann is world famous for her incredible feat as part of an old-women team to reach both the North and South Poles!
We admire Ann and her resilience and her ability to thrive under huge amounts of pressure. She is a woman to celebrate for young girls who have massive dreams to achieve.
May Boeve
If you haven’t heard of May when it comes to environmentalism and eco warriors, you’ll want to know all about her after this International Women’s Day!
Labelled the new face of the climate change movement, May is the founder of 350.org. As part of 350.org, May has helped organise climate protests and advocated for fossil fuel divestment.
May is a female at the forefront of the climate change voice - we celebrate her today and encourage other females to see their own potential in power.
